Jammu & Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, along with his father and National Conference Chief Farooq Abdullah, attended the 'Iftaar' party organised by Peoples Democratic Party President Mehbooba Mufti in Jammu.
The PDP chief had extended an invitation to the Chief Minister and his father, which they accepted. Leaders from other political parties also attended the event. The list of attendees included Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) chief Tariq Hameed Karra, senior party leader Ghulam Ahmad Mir, amongst others.
NC Versus PDP: Bitter Rivals
Abdullahs attending the Iftaar is in focus as Farooq Abdullah-led National Conference and Mehbooba Mufti’s Peoples Democratic Party are the most dominant political parties of Jammu & Kashmir. The two parties have also been the fiercest political rivals, often battling for dominance.
Media reports, quoting insiders, say the gathering was a purely social event and there were no political undertones to it. A source privy to the event was quoted saying, “It was just a goodwill gesture, not linked to any political discussions.
