US airstrikes pound areas under Houthi control in Yemen
Fresh US airstrikes have pounded various locations under Houthi control in Yemen on Wednesday. Strikes hit Sanaa, Yemen's rebel-held capital, as well as their stronghold of Saada in the country's northwest on Wednesday night, the Houthi's al-Masirah satellite news channel reported. It also said strikes happened overnight Tuesday, though the US military has not offered a breakdown of places targeted since the airstrikes campaign began. The first strikes this weekend killed at least 53 people, including children, and wounded others.
Tremendous Damage To Houthis: Trump
As the strikes hit, US President Donald Trump wrote on his Truth Social website that “tremendous damage has been inflicted upon the Houthi barbarians.” Reiterating his warning to Iran on this issue, Trump said, “Reports are coming in that while Iran has lessened its intensity on Military Equipment and General Support to the Houthis, they are still sending large levels of Supplies. Iran must stop the sending of these Supplies IMMEDIATELY.”
Will Annihilate Houthis: Trump
Trump added, “Let the Houthis fight it out themselves. Either way they lose, but this way they lose quickly. Tremendous damage has been inflicted upon the Houthi barbarians, and watch how it will get progressively worse — It’s not even a fair fight, and never will be. They will be completely annihilated!”
The US Strikes On Houthi Rebels
The US has launched strikes on the Iran-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen in response to their repeated attacks on Red Sea shipping lanes. The Houthis have been targeting commercial and military vessels, disrupting global trade and posing a security threat. The strikes aim to weaken the group's military capabilities and deter further aggression. The US and its allies view the Houthi attacks as a challenge to international stability and a broader proxy conflict involving Iran. President Trump has justified the strikes as necessary to protect American interests, regional allies, and the free flow of global maritime trade.
