Karumbi, the goat has earned the title of the world’s shortest living goat, as officially recognized by Guinness World Records on March 20, 2025. She is a four-year-old Canadian Pygmy goat. Standing at just 40.50 cm (1 ft 3 in) from the ground to her front shoulder blades and measuring 33.5 cm (1.1 ft) in length, this black-coated goat stays on a vibrant farm in Kerela, India. Her petite frame, a result of genetic dwarfism common in her breed, sets her apart from her companions—three male goats, nine females, ten kids, and a diverse mix of cows, rabbits, hens, and ducks.
Discovered by her owner, Peter, after a guest’s suggestion, Karumbi’s record-breaking height was verified by a veterinarian, who confirmed her age, health, and status as a fit, full-grown mother. Peter, a dedicated farmer, beams with pride over her achievement, viewing it as a celebration of agricultural life and the unexpected joys it brings. Born in 2021, Karumbi’s tiny stature does not hinder her lively personality or her role in the farm’s social circle. Her Guinness recognition highlights not only her uniqueness but also the care she receives in her rural home.
