Samsung’s One UI 7 stable update is coming—but why the delay?

Samsung’s One UI 7 stable update is coming—but why the delay?

The wait is almost over—Samsung’s One UI 7 stable update is set to roll out in April, starting with the Galaxy S24 series before reaching older flagship and mid-range devices.

Ahead of the full rollout, Samsung has kicked off the One UI 7 beta program, giving select Galaxy users a preview of Android 15-powered Galaxy AI features. Starting today, March 6, the beta is available for Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6 users in India, Korea, the UK, and the US, with more devices set to join throughout March.

Samsung isn’t rushing things—the beta program will expand before the stable update arrives next month. The company has rebuilt its software experience with refined animations, a redesigned interface, and deeper AI integration, making this a bigger update than a simple Android skin.

A complete visual refresh (finally!)

One UI 7 brings a refreshed Quick Panel, making toggles and settings easier to access. Animations feel smoother, and icons now sport bolder colors and a more modern look. A new Now Bar keeps tabs on running apps, notifications, and music playback—Samsung’s take on Apple’s Dynamic Island.

The update also pushes Galaxy AI features, integrating real-time spelling and grammar checks, tone adjustments, and text summarization into apps like Samsung Notes and messaging platforms. Call transcripts now support 20+ languages, automatically generating text from recorded calls.

For camera enthusiasts, a redesigned UI improves Pro-mode controls, making settings easier to access, while a new zoom control lets users fine-tune zoom speed in video mode.

AI features that actually make sense

AI is the buzzword of the year, and Samsung is going all-in with Galaxy AI in One UI 7. Unlike gimmicky AI features that you’ll use once and forget about, some of these upgrades actually seem useful.

The Writing Assist Tool now provides real-time spelling and grammar checks, text summarization, and tone adjustments across multiple apps—including Samsung Notes and messaging platforms. Think of it like Grammarly baked into your phone.

For those who hate taking notes during calls, Samsung has an answer—call transcripts in over 20 languages. Whenever you record a call, it’ll automatically generate a full transcript, making it easy to review conversations later.

And let’s not forget AI-enhanced photography. A redesigned camera UI makes pro-mode settings easier to access, and a new zoom control lets you fine-tune zoom speed in video mode.

Who’s getting the beta next?

After the Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6, the Galaxy S23 series, Tab S10 lineup, and Galaxy A55 are expected to receive the beta later this month. Users can apply for the Samsung Members beta program for early access.

Leaks suggest the stable rollout begins April 18 with the Galaxy S24 series and S24 FE, followed by the Galaxy S23 FE, S22 lineup, Z Fold 4, and Flip 4 by May 16. The Galaxy S21 series, Z Flip 3, and Z Fold 3 are rumored to get the update by May 23, but Samsung hasn’t confirmed these dates yet.

How to join the beta?

If you own a Galaxy Z Fold 6 or Z Flip 6, you can sign up for the One UI 7 beta via the Samsung Members app today. The beta will expand to more devices soon, with the official stable release arriving in April.
