Beat the summer heat with a glass of sattu buttermilk, a cooling and nutritious drink with roots in Indian tradition.
Sattu buttermilk is a refreshing summer beverage made by blending roasted gram flour, known as sattu, with chilled buttermilk and aromatic spices.
This drink naturally cools the body, prevents dehydration, and keeps you energized even during the harshest summer afternoons.
To make sattu buttermilk, you need sattu powder, fresh buttermilk, black salt, roasted cumin powder, regular salt, lemon juice & some herbs.
Take two tablespoons of sattu in a bowl and mix it with a little water to form a smooth, lump-free paste.
Add one cup of chilled buttermilk to the paste and whisk or stir thoroughly to combine everything well.
Now stir in roasted cumin powder, black salt, a pinch of regular salt, and lemon juice if you like a tangy touch.
Pour the drink into a glass and top it with chopped coriander or mint leaves; you can also add a few ice cubes before serving.
This drink aids digestion, is rich in plant-based protein, helps flush out toxins, and provides a natural energy boost without any sugar.
Sattu buttermilk is more than just a drink—it’s a summer essential that blends health, flavor, and tradition in every cooling sip.
