World Malaria Day 2025: Reinvest, Reimagine, Reignite the Fight
World Malaria Day is observed every year on April 25 to raise awareness about malaria and global efforts to eliminate it.
The day was established in 2007 by the World Health Assembly to highlight the need for continued investment and sustained political commitment.
This year’s theme, "Malaria ends with us: Reinvest, Reimagine, Reignite," calls for renewed dedication to end malaria for good.
It urges governments and communities to reinvest in prevention, reimagine solutions through innovation, and reignite global action.
Malaria still claims over 600,000 lives globally each year, with children under five being the most vulnerable.
India's National Strategic Plan 2023–2027 outlines a focused roadmap to eliminate malaria by 2030 through targeted action, innovation & partnerships.
Malaria cases in India have declined by more than 85% and deaths by over 90% since 2015, showing strong progress under national and state programs.
The plan focuses on high-burden areas, improves surveillance, and empowers communities to join the malaria elimination mission.
On World Malaria Day 2025, let’s commit to action—because with reinvestment and innovation, malaria truly can end with us.
