Always be aware of your surroundings in large gatherings. Identify exits and avoid being in the center of tightly packed crowds.
If caught in a moving crowd, go with the flow. Fighting against the current may lead to falling or injury.
Use your arms to shield your chest like a boxer. Keep your head up and stay on your feet at all costs.
Avoid barriers, fences, or glass walls. Getting trapped against them increases the risk of suffocation and injuries.
If you trip, try to fall on your side and curl into a ball. Protect your head and neck with your arms until help arrives or the crowd passes.
Do not bend down to pick anything, not even your phone or shoe—it could cost you your life in a stampede.
Wear shoes with good grip and avoid long, flowing clothes that could trip you or get caught.
If someone near you falls, help only if it doesn’t risk your own safety. Alert authorities or crowd control.
Always locate emergency exits on arrival at events, and avoid bottlenecks where people may rush during panic.
Once safe, get medical attention even for minor injuries. Stampede trauma can cause hidden internal damage.
