Ayodhya is the birthplace of Lord Ram. The new Ram Temple attracts millions of visitors each year. Here’s a simple guide for your visit.
Visit between October and March for pleasant weather. Festivals like Ram Navami see large crowds, so book early if traveling then.
Ayodhya Airport is about 9 km from the temple. Lucknow Airport is an alternative, about 160 km away with good road connections.
Ayodhya Dham Jn and Faizabad (Ayodhya Cantt) have trains from major cities. Buses and taxis are available from Lucknow and nearby towns.
Ayodhya offers luxury hotels, budget guesthouses, and affordable dormitories near the temple, mostly run by private owners and local ashrams.
Arrive, settle in, visit Ram Janmabhoomi prayers late morning, Hanuman Garhi after lunch, and enjoy evening aarti or local cultural events.
Visit Kanak Bhawan, Saryu River Ghats, Treta Ke Thakur; shop local markets after lunch; relax at Guptar Ghat before departure.
The Ram Temple has strict security protocols. Carry a valid ID, and avoid large bags or prohibited items. Follow instructions from security personnel.
Photography inside the temple is restricted, but you can capture views of the temple exterior, Saryu river, and nearby heritage sites.
Use rickshaws, e-rickshaws, or buses to get around. Modest clothing is recommended, and remove footwear before entering temples.
Enjoy vegetarian North Indian cuisine in local eateries. Try special dishes like kachori, lassi, and thandai.
