This year, May 12 is unique as it hosts two major full-moon festivals — Buddha Purnima and Vaishakha Purnima — celebrated across India and beyond.
Buddha Purnima celebrates Lord Buddha's birth, enlightenment, and nirvana, symbolizing peace, compassion, and enlightenment for Buddhists worldwide.
Buddha Purnima is a day of reflection, meditation, and devotion, emphasizing non-violence, mindfulness & the pursuit of enlightenment for Buddhists.
Vaishakha Purnima, while coinciding with Buddha Purnima, is rooted in Hindu tradition and honors Satyanarayan Puja and the blessings of Lord Vishnu.
In Hinduism, Vaishakha Purnima is dedicated to Lord Vishnu and the worship of Lord Satyanarayana, symbolizing truth, righteousness, and devotion.
Though Buddha Purnima and Vaishakha Purnima have distinct religious meanings, both share themes of spiritual awakening and devotion to a higher cause.
On this day, Buddhists celebrate through prayers and teachings, while Hindus gather in temples for rituals and ceremonies.
Both festivals invite people to reflect on their spiritual paths, embrace compassion and truth, and deepen their connection with the divine.
