Punjab Kings chased down a steep target of 204 to defeat Mumbai Indians by five wickets in Qualifier 2, reaching their first IPL final in 11 years.
Skipper Shreyas Iyer played a sensational knock of 87* off 41 balls, finishing the chase in style with four sixes in the 19th over.
With this win, Iyer became the only captain to take three different franchises to the IPL final — DC in 2020, KKR in 2024, and now PBKS in 2025.
Having led KKR to the title last year, Iyer now has a shot at becoming the first captain to win IPL titles with two different teams.
Nehal Wadhera made full use of two dropped chances to score a vital 48 off 29 balls and stitched an 84-run stand with Iyer.
Josh Inglis gave Punjab early momentum with 38 off 21 balls, including a blistering 20-run over against Jasprit Bumrah.
Led by Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak Varma’s 44s, MI posted a strong 203/6 in a rain-delayed match that started more than two hours late.
Tilak and Surya added quick runs in the middle overs, keeping MI's run rate above 10 before falling in close succession.
Omarzai picked up 2 wickets while Jamieson and Vyshak chipped in as PBKS prevented MI from going big in the final overs.
Bumrah went wicketless and conceded 40 runs, while dropped catches by Dhir and Boult allowed PBKS to take control.
Punjab Kings will face Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the final on June 3 in Ahmedabad — ensuring a first-time IPL champion this season.
