Trump says “deal with China is done”

Talks aimed at cooling tensions between the US and China, the world's two largest economies, have ended in a "deal", according to US President Donald Trump.

In a post on his social media platform, Truth Social, Trump added that China has agreed to supply US companies with magnets and rare earth metals, while the US would walk back its threats to revoke visas of Chinese students.

US warns nations of consequences for "anti-Israel actions"

Shifting focus, Trump's administration is discouraging governments around the world from attending a UN conference next week on a possible ‘two-state solution' between Israel and Palestine.

Reports suggest that the diplomatic demarche, sent on Tuesday, says countries that take "anti-Israel actions" following the conference will be viewed as acting in opposition to US foreign policy interests.

Further adding that such countries could face diplomatic consequences from Washington.

The demarche runs squarely against the diplomacy of two close allies France and Saudi Arabia, who are co-hosting the gathering next week in New York that aims to lay out the roadmap to a Palestinian state, while ensuring Israel's security.

US federal judge rules in favour of Mahmoud Khalil

Moving on, a federal judge said on Wednesday that the Trump administration cannot deport or continue to detain Mahmoud Khalil, a Columbia University activist.

Judge Michael Farbiarz put a pause on his injunction though until the morning of June 13 to give the federal government time to appeal. Khalil will be detained at least until that point.

US pulling personnel out of "dangerous" Middle East

To the Middle East now and, reacting to reports of the US looking to pull some personnel from the region, Trump has said they were being moved out because "it could be a dangerous place".

The decision to evacuate some personnel comes at a volatile moment in the region.

Trump's efforts to reach a nuclear deal with Iran appear to be deadlocked and US intelligence indicates that Israel has been making preparations for a strike against Iran's nuclear facilities.

At least 60 Palestinians killed seeking food in Gaza

To the latest from Gaza now and Israeli forces killed at least 60 Palestinians, most of them as they were seeking food from US-Israeli-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation near Netzarim in central Gaza and in Rafah, at Gaza’s southern border.

The Gaza health authorities said on Wednesday the Palestinian death toll over the 20 months of conflict had passed 55,000.
