India celebrates National Doctors' Day every year on July 1 to thank the selfless heroes who dedicate their lives to saving ours.
This day marks the birth and death anniversary of Dr. B.C. Roy — legendary doctor, freedom fighter & ex-West Bengal CM who shaped Indian healthcare.
Dr. Roy helped establish IMA and MCI, elevating medical education, ethics, and healthcare access across India.
In 1991, India declared July 1 as National Doctors’ Day to honour Dr. B.C. Roy and recognise doctors’ contributions to the nation’s health.
This year’s theme highlights doctors’ mental health, reminding us that while they heal others, their own struggles often go unseen.
Doctors aren’t just healers—they’re educators, pandemic warriors, and reformers breaking stigmas and leading health awareness in communities.
It reminds us that doctors are the backbone of healthcare, and supporting them is key to building a strong, inclusive medical system for all.
Doctors often face long hours, stress, emotional burnout, legal pressure & violence—challenges intensified during crises like the COVID-19 pandemic.
Respect their time, trust their advice, and advocate mental health support to stand by our doctors as true partners in care.
This National Doctors’ Day, we recognise your selfless service, thank you for your dedication, and honour your role in saving lives.
