Snoring is noisy breathing during sleep. It's common and may be a sign of underlying health issues.
Snoring occurs when airflow is obstructed, causing throat tissues to vibrate.
Snoring can be caused by obesity, alcohol, sleep position, or nasal congestion.
Persistent snoring affects sleep quality, leading to fatigue and increased health risks.
Maintain a healthy weight, sleep on your side, avoid alcohol, practise good sleep hygiene.
Use humidifiers, try nasal strips or a saline rinse, keep bedroom air moist and clean.
CPAP devices, oral appliances, or surgery may be advised if snoring persists.
Consult a doctor if snoring disrupts sleep, leads to insomnia or daytime fatigue.
