A study by AGR Knowledge Services reveals that 3 in 5 Indians aren’t getting enough sleep. A quarter say their sleep has worsened post-pandemic.
The report, “The Modern Sleep Bazaar,” maps India’s growing sleep debt using digital conversations, search trends, and consumer sentiment.
Online searches like “how to sleep 8 hours in 4” are rising. Many Indians are seeking shortcuts and self-help, rather than medical advice.
Sleep gummies saw a 650% spike in search interest in the past year. Melatonin, magnesium, chamomile, and ashwagandha are especially in demand.
India now has over 30–40 active sleep supplement brands. Yet most are new entrants, with very few established or medically backed players.
“People are making sleep aids a nightly ritual, not just a remedy,” says Suyog Keluskar, President, Social Media Intelligence, AGR Knowledge Services.
Conversations online reveal concern about safety, dependency, and product effectiveness. Users want transparency more than trendy packaging.
Sleep is no longer passive. Indians now treat it like fitness and nutrition—an active part of daily self-care routines.
Experts believe credible health brands can fill the trust gap. The demand is strong, but consumers need reassurance along with results.
India’s sleep story is changing. Better sleep isn't just a dream—it’s becoming a wellness priority. And the market is wide awake to it.
