Register online or through authorized centers with the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board. Carry your Yatra Permit and valid ID proof throughout the journey.
Due to the strenuous nature of the trek, you must present a certified health check-up report. Begin fitness training well in advance.
Start walking or light jogging daily before the yatra. The high-altitude terrain requires endurance and strong breathing capacity.
Bring woollens, raincoat, sturdy trekking shoes, thermal wear, gloves, and a flashlight. Temperatures may drop suddenly, even in summer.
Stay a night or two at Pahalgam or Baltal before the trek. This reduces the risk of altitude sickness and prepares your body for the climb.
Do not take shortcuts or venture off the marked trail. Follow instructions from authorities, signage, and security personnel at all times.
Pack essential medicines like paracetamol, Diamox (for altitude sickness), pain balm, bandages, and any personal prescriptions you need daily.
Maintain cleanliness, avoid loud music, and support fellow yatris. The journey is as much spiritual as it is physical—approach it with humility.
Keep a basic mobile phone with emergency numbers saved. Weather alerts, health advisories, and route updates are regularly shared by authorities.
Consider taking travel insurance. Also, inform your family of your route and carry emergency contact details in your backpack for safety.
