US President Donald Trump has responded by saying the proposal does not go far enough to address the transatlantic trade deficit.

Since Trump's announcement of a 20 per cent tariff on European goods, the EU has been scrambling to come up with a unified response. What could be the benefits of a zero-tariff model?
