From India’s first AI-generated film to Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan’s anniversary, and Disha Patani’s sister Khushboo rescuing a baby, here are all the big entertainment headlines and celebrity updates this week. Be it Madhuri Dixit and Tripti Dimri’s upcoming collaboration, or Kartik Aaryan’s ‘Naagzilla’ being announced under Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions, or the new films and shows to watch this weekend, such as Saif Ali Khan’s ‘Jewel Thief’, we have all the pop culture news.

Need a refresher on all the entertainment news from this week, be it new film and show releases or celebrity updates? Here’s a rundown of the Bollywood headlines you may have missed.

India’s first AI-generated film is here

The first AI-generated Indian film approved for theatrical release has been made. Created by S. Narasimhamurthy and AI technician Nutan, the Kannada film is titled 'Love You'. Using 30 tools to design everything on a ₹10 lakh budget, the movie has original songs, AI-generated dialogues, and a 95-minute run time.

However, the fact that AI-generated films might become the norm, begs the question: what happens to celebrity culture and star power now? On one hand, it could mean that the hype around celebrities dies down. On another, it could mean that AI-generated films don’t get the foot traffic that films with big established human actors get due to the audience’s emotional connection with them.

On the subject of human connections, there was a bittersweet celebrity update that went viral this week.

Disha Patani’s sister rescues a baby

Disha Patani’s sister, Khushboo, made headlines for rescuing a kidnapped baby girl who had been assaulted. An ex-army officer, Khushboo found the baby in an abandoned building, and shared the baby’s video on social media to find her parents, following which the child was reunited with her family.

While the child’s reunion with her family was very heartwarming to watch, the fact that she was taken from her parents and hurt, was the shocking part. This wasn’t the only happy family photo that became a major topic of conversation this week, though.

Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan’s anniversary

Aishwarya Rai posted a picture with Abhishek Bachchan and their daughter Aaradhya on the occasion of their anniversary, silencing the gossip surrounding their relationship. No strangers to the public butting into their personal lives, Aishwarya and Abhishek have long been subject to the pernicious scrutiny celebrity couples endure.

In terms of updates that actually have something to do with audiences, there were a lot of stories about films that are currently being made or are about to hit the floors.

Announcements of Hindi films that are about to be made

After working together in ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3’, Madhuri Dixit and Tripti Dimri are set to star in another film together, along with Ravi Kishan. The movie also features content creator Dharna Durga, who is known for her viral videos and comic timing. The movie will reportedly be directed by Suresh Triveni, of ‘Tumhari Sulu’ and ‘Jalsa’ fame, and is a comedy-drama tentatively titled ‘Ma Behen.’ While some reports suggest Tripti and Madhuri play a mother-daughter duo in it, we’ll only know when the film hits the screens!

The first look of Kartik Aaryan and Karan Johar's upcoming collaboration, 'Naagzilla: Naag Lok Ka Pehla Kaand' has been revealed. A comedy, this film is supposed to have some referential, meta humour. In the motion poster of the film, Kartik’s character describes himself as a 631-year-old ‘ichchhadhaari naag’, which is basically a magical snake who can transform himself into a human.

The film will reportedly be released on August 14, 2026, which is also the release date of Varun Dhawan's ‘Bhediya 2’, making this quite the box office clash.

As for films which are coming soon, here are the upcoming releases to check out this weekend.

Upcoming shows and films to watch

The most exciting release of the week has to be Saif Ali Khan and Jaideep Ahlawat-starrer action-drama, 'Jewel Thief: The Heist Begins,' which already made waves when a song from it featuring a dancing Jaideep Ahlawat, took over social media. About a thief who is hired to steal a precious diamond, this suspense-filled heist movie is coming to Netflix on April 25.

In terms of international shows, the fifth season of ‘Gossip Girl’ star Penn Badgely’s ‘You’ has been streaming on Netflix since April 24. A story of obsession, stalking, blackmail, and infatuation gone wrong, this will be the last season of the hit show.

Finally, after some controversy post its theatrical release, Mohanlal-starrer and Prithviraj Sukumaran-directed 'L2: Empuraan', has been streaming on JioHotstar since April 24 as well. While the film has the look and feel of an action-packed crime drama, it also delves into socio-political commentary. So, if you didn’t get to watch this movie in the theatres, now’s your chance!
