India carried out multiple strikes on Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, early on Wednesday, as part of "Operation Sindoor". The strikes were a direct retaliation for the terror attack that took place in Pahalgam Kashmir on April 22, and led to the deaths of 26 civilians.
The Indian armed forces gave a briefing on Operation Sindoor on Wednesday morning. They issued a statement detailing the strikes on nine targets linked to Pakistan-based terror groups. The targets included multiple strongholds of Jaish-e-Mohammed, Lashkar-e-Taiba and Hizbul Mujahideen.
Among the JeM targets were Markaz Subhan Allah at Bahawalpur, Sarjal at Tehra Kalan, Markaz Abbas in Kotli and Syedna Bilal camp in Muzaffarabad.
The LeT bases hit were Markaz Taiba at Murdike, Markaz Ahle Hadith at Barnala and Shwawai Nalla camp at Muzaffarabad.
Col. Sofiya Qureshi presented videos showing destroyed terror camps and said they included the Muridke base, “where those involved in the 2008 Mumbai Terror attacks, Ajmal Kasab and David Headley, received their training."
Makaz Raheel Shahid in Kotli and Mehmoona Joya in Sialkot were the Hizbul Mujahideen strongholds targeted.
Wing Commander Vyomika Singh said, "Operation Sindoor was launched by the Indian Armed Forces to deliver justice to the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack and their families. Nine terrorist camps were targeted and successfully destroyed.” She added that, “The locations were so selected to avoid damage to civilian infrastructures and loss of any civilian lives."
