The car blast near Delhi’s Red Fort on Monday killed at least 12 people and injured at least 20. As police investigate the terror angle, here's a reminder of the deadliest attacks on the national capital.
Delhi High Court blast
On September 7, 2011, a bomb exploded outside gate number 5 of the Delhi High Court, killing 15 people and leaving 79 injured. A Pakistan-based terror group, Harkat-ul-Jihad al-Islami, claimed responsibility for the attack.
Qutub Minar explosion
On September 27, 2008, a low-intensity blast at the Mehrauli flower market near Qutub Minar area killed three people and injured 21.
2008 serial blasts
On September 13, 2008, 25 people were killed and over 100 injured in five serial blasts across Karol Bagh's Ghaffar market, Connaught Place, and M-Block market in Greater Kailash-I.
2005 twin blasts
One person died and 60 were injured on May 22, 2005, in two consecutive blasts that ripped through the Liberty and Satyam Cinema halls in Delhi.
Sarojini, Paharganj serial blasts
On October 29, 2005, Delhi witnessed one of the deadliest attacks, just days ahead of Diwali. Over 67 people were killed and 200 injured as bombs exploded in Sarojini Nagar, Paharganj and Govindpuri markets.
Parliament attack
On December 13, 2001, Jaish-e-Mohammed carried out an unprecedented attack on the Parliament complex. 11 people were killed, including Delhi Police, CRPF and Parliament security personnel. All five terrorists were gunned down in the encounter.
