Moscow says that Talks on Security Guarantees for Ukraine Must Involve Russia

Russia’s Foreign Minister, Sergey Lavrov, has said that any discussion about security guarantees for Ukraine must involve Russia. Lavrov’s said this days after European leaders accompanied Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to the White House, to discuss collective security for the country. US President Donald Trump met with both Zelenskyy and Russian President Vladimir Putin in the past week, to try and bring an end to the Russia-Ukraine War. But Kyiv and its European backers want military guarantees, to deter future aggression from Moscow once the war ends.

S. Jaishankar meets Vladimir Putin in Moscow

India’s External Affairs Minister, S. Jaishankar, met Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow. Jaishankar was in Russia for a three-day visit aimed at deepening ties between the two nations. While there, Jaishankar took a swipe at the tariffs that the US has levied on India. The US has imposed 50% tariffs on Indian imports, purportedly because India has been buying Russian oil. The US says that India is “fuelling the Russian war machine”. But Jaishankar said that India bought Russian oil after the US told India to help stabilise global energy markets, so he was, “very perplexed at the logic of the argument.”

Israeli Military Figures show 83% Civilian Death Rate in Gaza: Report

And a new investigation by the Guardian reveals that Israel’s own military database indicates a civilian death rate of 83% in Gaza. The Guardian and its local partners found that up till May, Israel noted that it had killed 8,900 Hamas fighters and other militants. But by that time, 53,000 Palestinians had been killed by Israeli attacks. So, that means that only 17% of the people Israel had killed were combatants, and 83% were civilians. The IDF claims that the figures presented in the report are “incorrect”, but it has not clarified how.
