Trump at 80th UNGA: US President uses General Debate to remind world he’s “right about everything”

Trump told world leaders their countries are going to hell thanks to migrants and climate policies. He then turned his focus to China, India, NATO, and the UN but still had time to praise himself. With his supreme methods of diplomacy as well as his humility on display, how has he not won the Nobel Peace Prize yet?

US President Donald Trump is a president like no other. Because only Trump can get away with telling the world leaders gathered at the 80th UNGA’s General Debate to go to hell.

Indeed, he berated the UN’s 190+ members for the “failed experiment of open borders”. Not only that he made sure to tell them he knows what he’s talking about and that he’s right about everything. So, if Trump believes that “uncontrolled migration” and the “green scam” are really responsible for a majority of the world’s problems, it must be so.

But, instead of learning, people like French President Emmanuel Macron chose to attack visionaries like Trump. Macron, without naming Trump, castigated the few cynic world leaders as obstacles in front of the majority who are ready to make a difference.

Furthermore, Trump has problems with the United Nations itself. Yes, the escalator stopped just as soon as he and the First Lady stepped onto it and the teleprompter too conked off just as he was about to begin his address. But the US President spent much of his time criticising the UN for “funding an assault on Western countries”.

And by that, the US President was referring to the food and shelter that the UN provides to destitute asylum seekers and migrants across the world. As well as the organisation’s push to mitigate the effects of climate change through policies like the landmark 2015 Paris Agreement. How dare they, right?

Additionally, Trump is more hopeful than ever of winning the Nobel Peace Prize. Afterall he “stopped 7 wars” since taking office in Jan this year. But, not the Ukraine war. And there are two main reasons for that according to him.

Trump believes China and India are the primary funders of Russia’s ongoing war with Ukraine because they continue to purchase Russian oil. This despite the US and the West levying sanctions on it.

Imagine, the gall of India! How dare India prioritise the energy needs of its 1.4 billion people over Trump’s desire for the prestigious Norwegian award, right?
