Pakistan-occupied Kashmir has turned into a battlefield. A massive protest that erupted against Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has resulted in 11 deaths.

The unrest, which entered its fourth day on Friday, saw civilians clashing with the armed forces and police personnel.

The agitation began after the Sharif government failed to meet protesters’ 38 key demands. Since Sunday afternoon, Pakistan-occupied Kashmir has been cut off from the internet.

Taliban minister in India

Taliban’s foreign minister Amir Khan Muttaqi is scheduled to visit India on October 09. This is the first visit by a Taliban official to India since the outfit took control of Afghanistan in 2021.

Reports say that India has been in touch with Kabul since August to facilitate a visit by Muttaqi, who faces a travel ban by the UN Security Council. India is understood to have approached the council to waive the travel ban on Muttaqi.

Wangchuk’s wife moves SC

Activist Sonam Wangchuk’s wife has filed a Habeas Corpus petition before the Supreme Court, challenging his arrest following the violent protests in Ladakh.

The court is currently on Dussehra vacation and will reopen on October 6. Wangchuk was detained under the National Security Act on September 26 after being accused of instigating the protests demanding statehood for Ladakh.

Pak’s ex-cricketer faces flak

Pakistan’s former cricketer Sana Mir came under heavy criticism from Indian fans over her remarks while doing commentary for the Women's World Cup 2025 match between Pakistan and Bangladesh.

While on air, Mir said that cricketer Natalia Pervaiz hails from "Azaad Kashmir", while talking about her background.

The remark immediately drew reactions across social media, with Indian fans tagging the ICC and BCCI, demanding her removal for allegedly politicising the broadcast.
