A 6.3-magnitude earthquake has resulted in at least 20 people being killed and a further 320 people injured in northern Afghanistan near the city of Mazar-i-Sharif.

The Taliban Ministry of Public Health said the number is likely to rise as rescue efforts continue. Remember, just two months ago, an earthquake in the east killed more than 2,000.

20 die in Telangana bus accident

In other tragic news, 20 people died, with several others injured after a passenger bus met with an accident in Telangana’s Rangareddy district, about 60 km from Hyderabad.

The Telangana State Road Transport Corporation bus with nearly 70 passengers on board collided with a gravel-laden truck, burying several passengers. The passengers killed include a 10-month-old baby, 10 women, and the drivers of both heavy vehicles.

ED attaches ₹3,000+ cr worth assets linked to Anil Ambani

Elsewhere, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) attached assets worth more than ₹3,000 crores linked to Reliance Group Chairman Anil Ambani.

The ED’s move is part of a money laundering investigation against his group companies. This includes Ambani’s house in Pali Hill, Mumbai, apart from other residential and commercial properties of his group companies.

BCCI’s ₹51 cr reward for Indian Women’s cricket team

In sports, the BCCI has announced a ₹51 crore reward for the Indian women’s cricket team – both for the players and support staff. This after they won the first-ever ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup title.

BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia hailed the 52-run victory over South Africa as a “monumental achievement”. Adding that it would take Indian women’s cricket to a new level.

Lucknow crowned UNESCO’s ‘Creative City of Gastronomy’

And last but not the least, the Indian city of Lucknow has officially been declared a UNESCO ‘Creative City of Gastronomy’.

The global recognition at the 43rd Session of the UNESCO General Conference celebrates the city’s centuries-old Awadhi cuisine, living food traditions and inclusive cultural heritage. The UP government said the moment marks a milestone for the State, showcasing how food heritage can become a symbol of cultural diplomacy and sustainable tourism.
