A powerful 5.7-magnitude earthquake struck central Bangladesh on Friday morning, killing at least six people and injuring dozens.

The quake struck at a reported depth of 10 km with its epicenter roughly 25 km from the capital of Dhaka, according to the USGS.

Tremors were felt in India too. Residents were seen running out onto the streets across parts of West Bengal and Assam. As of this report, there were no casualties reported in India.

IAF pilot killed in Tejas fighter jet crash at Dubai Air Show

Shifting focus - a Tejas fighter jet of the Indian Air Force crashed in Dubai whilst taking part in a local Air Show.

The fighter plane, indigenously developed by HAL, went down while performing an aerial maneuver in front of a large crowd with the IAF confirming the pilot was killed in the accident.

Delhi schools suspend outdoor activities and sports

In other news - in Delhi, the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) has issued an advisory to schools to suspend outdoor activities and sports.

This after the agency concluded that the current air quality in Delhi posed significant health risks to children with air quality hitting the ‘severe’ category.

The CAQM advisory extends to all universities, colleges, and recognised sports associations across Delhi-NCR.

SC agrees to hear a batch of petitions challenging SIR

Shifting focus - the Supreme Court has agreed to hear a batch of petitions challenging the Special Intensive Revision in Kerala, Uttar Pradesh and other states

Given that local body elections are scheduled to be held in Kerala soon, the 3-judge bench said that Kerala’s matter will be listed on November 26.

The rest of the petitions challenging the electoral roll revision will be taken up for hearing in the first or second week of December.
