Salman Khan fans, the time is here! After much anticipation and teasers, we will finally witness Salman Khan's magnanimous power in the theatres as 'Sikandar' is all set to release on April 1. While whistles and claps are guaranteed, will Khan break his box-office slumber and wake up to a mega-hit? With more than 10 films in the 100 crore club and 3 in the 300 crore club, fans expect another 300 crore+ hit from the star. However, Khan's last 3 films have flopped at the box office.
Let us take a look at the performance of his latest 3 films.
Salman Khan's Last 3 Film's Box Office Collection
'Antim The Final Truth' - ₹59.11 crore
Released on 26 November 2021, 'Antim The Final Truth' starring Salman Khan and Aayush Sharma in the lead, failed to lure the audience to the theatres. Directed by Mahesh Manjrekar, 'Antim The Final Truth' earned a mere ₹4.50 crore on its opening day at the box office. According to Bollywood Hungama, the film's lifetime collection was ₹59.11 crore, a figure unimaginable for a Salman Khan film.
What failed to work? The Indian Express quoted Salman Khan, "When these films ('Antim: The Final Truth' and 'Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan') were released, people were not going to theatres. Moreover, we didn’t do blockbuster prices, we were going for popular prices. Our box office numbers were lower in those films but we focused on saving the audience’s money."
According to the actor, if the film was released in 2023, it would have fared better.
'Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan' - ₹110.53 crore
2023 Eid was made extra special by Bhaijaan's multi-starrer release 'Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan'. Also starring Pooja Hedge, Venkatesh Daggubati, Jagapathi Babu, Bhumika Chawla, Vijender Singh, Abhimanyu Singh, Raghav Juyal, Siddharth Nigam, Jassie Gill, Shehnaaz Gill, Palak Tiwari and Vinali Bhatnagar in important roles, the movie was produced by Salman Khan films.
The film marked one of his lowest Eid openings as compared to his film from 2010-2019. It minted ₹ 15.81 crore on Day 1. According to Bollywood Hungama, the film's lifetime Bollywood collection was ₹110.53 crore.
Despite average reviews, the film failed to mint money at the box office and was declared a flop.
'Tiger 3' - ₹466.63 crore
Salman's much-anticipated film 'Tiger 3' was a major saving grace for the actor as it collected ₹466.63 crore at the box office. 'Tiger 3' was the third instalment in the Tiger franchise and arrived after 'Ek Tha Tiger' (2012) and 'Tiger Zinda Hai' (2017). The expectations were high and fans went in huge numbers to see Salman in action on the big screens, making 'Tiger 3' the sixth highest-grossing Hindi film of 2023.
Salman Khan's success with his last release, 'Tiger 3' is a testament to his enduring popularity and his ability to connect with audiences. Will he give us another hit with 'Sikandar', or will fans be disappointed? We have to wait and watch!
