Apple has officially set the dates for its Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2025, and it’s all happening from June 9 to June 13. While Apple hasn’t spilled all the details, expectations are already sky-high for the launch of iOS 19, fresh Apple Intelligence features, and updates across its entire ecosystem. And while it’s not a sure thing, there’s even a chance we might get a sneak peek at the much-rumoured iPhone 17 Air.

For those who want to tune in, the event will be streamed for free on the Apple Developer app, website, and YouTube channel. Apple says WWDC25 will give developers direct access to its experts while showcasing the latest tools and frameworks.

iOS 19: A major visual overhaul incoming?

Rumours suggest iOS 19 will bring a fresh new look, making Apple’s ecosystem feel more cohesive across iPhones, iPads, and Macs. Expect deeper customisation options, a revamped Control Center with tighter Focus Mode integration, and smarter widgets. Apple might also introduce context-aware formatting, helping users stay organised with AI-powered suggestions.

One of the most exciting updates? A completely redesigned Camera app, said to be inspired by visionOS. It’s expected to have a cleaner, more transparent interface with easier-to-use toggles for photo and video modes, plus quick access to resolution, frame rate, and exposure settings. If the leaks are true, the viewfinder will also get a more modern touch, including a dedicated button for instant access to the photo library.

An update on Apple Intelligence

Apple’s AI-powered Apple Intelligence features were teased back at WWDC 2024, but they’re still nowhere to be seen. The company is reportedly facing challenges rolling out these features, particularly a more conversational and context-aware Siri. In fact, delays in these AI updates have even led to a lawsuit against Apple.

WWDC 2025 is expected to shed light on the future of Apple Intelligence, though the company might take a more cautious approach this time. Initially, Siri’s big AI upgrade was supposed to launch next month, but Apple has now confirmed a delay, and won’t release it before 2026. This event could finally provide some clarity on when we can expect these long-promised features.

macOS 16, iPadOS, watchOS, and more

The design updates coming to iOS 19 are expected to extend to macOS 16, giving Mac users a refreshed interface. Apple will also unveil the latest California-themed name for the new macOS version, following macOS Sequoia.

There’s also ongoing speculation about a touchscreen Mac, though reports suggest it might not arrive until 2027. If that’s the case, macOS 16 could start laying the groundwork for a more touch-friendly interface.

Meanwhile, watchOS 12 is expected to introduce more health-tracking features, possibly supporting new sensors in the upcoming Apple Watch 11, which is rumoured to include blood pressure and blood glucose monitoring. While Apple probably won’t reveal Watch 11 details just yet, we can expect watchOS 12 to tease what’s coming.

Updates to tvOS and visionOS are also expected, continuing Apple’s trend of refining the software experience across its ecosystem.

Will Apple drop any new hardware?

WWDC is typically a software-first event, but Apple has been known to sneak in hardware reveals—like when it introduced the Vision Pro at WWDC 2023.

This year, major hardware announcements seem less likely since Apple has already released a bunch of new products, including the MacBook Air M4, updated Mac Studio, iPad Air M3, and iPhone 16e. However, there’s still one potential wildcard: the next-generation Mac Pro.

Since Mac Pro is a key tool for developers, it wouldn’t be surprising if Apple unveiled a refresh at WWDC 2025. And while it’s a long shot, there’s also some buzz around the iPhone 17 Air, which is expected to be Apple’s slimmest iPhone yet. If Apple wants to build hype early, WWDC might be the place to give us a sneak peek.

With iOS 19, Apple Intelligence, macOS 16, and possible hardware surprises, WWDC 2025 is shaping up to be an exciting event. Whether Apple delivers groundbreaking new AI features or simply refines its ecosystem, one thing is clear—June 9 can’t come soon enough.
