There is always some major drama going on at the ‘Bigg Boss 19’ house. But, isn’t that the reason we watch the show? This week it is Shehnaaz Gill’s brother Shehbaz Badesha who has managed to grab the limelight, but not for all the right reasons.
Ever since his wildcard entry in the third week, Shehbaz has managed to stay out of the elimination radar — something even Salman Khan pointed out during ‘Weekend Ka Vaar.’ But, looks like he has gotten a little overconfident. His bold claim that Sidharth Shukla’s loyal fanbase would ensure he never gets voted out.
During Weekend Ka Vaar, Salman Khan asked actor Gaurav Khanna to share his assessment of other housemates. While talking about Shehbaz, Gaurav observed that not once did he enter the nomination round. Later, when Salman left the housemates to reflect on his advice, Shehbaz appeared visibly angered by Gaurav’s comments.
A visibly angry Shehbaaz then said, “Main bhi ek baar nominations main aakar dekhna chahta hoon, kya hota hai mere saath. Hain, bethe hai fir Sidharth Shukla ke fans bhi mere saath. Jo winner hai naa iss show ka, uski fan following bethi hai mere saath (Even I want to see what happens with me when I get nominated. Sidharth Shukla’s fans are with me. The winner of this show has a fan following that supports me)."
What might have sounded like confidence to some quickly turned into controversy. Social media erupted soon after, with many netizens calling out Shehbaz for using the late Sidharth Shukla’s name to gain sympathy and votes.
The backlash wasn’t mild. Fans of Sidharth Shukla, the beloved 'Bigg Boss 13' winner, expressed their disappointment, stating that invoking his name for personal advantage was disrespectful.
While one netizen commented, "Siddhartha ki naam pe lene wala footage," another wrote on the video, "Overconfident shabaazzz please stop this... It will never happen... Favoritism haiii....." Another netizen wrote, "Challenge accepted aa fir to nomination mein btate hn."
For now, Shehbaz’s game plan seems to be working. Despite entering later than the rest, he’s managed to stay safe every week. However, as the show progresses and the competition tightens, this tactic could easily backfire.
So tell us what do you think? Will this ‘sympathy vote’ strategy work or is it going to backfire.
