PM Narendra Modi said Congress and its allies were disrespecting 'Chhathi Maiyya', with just days to go for the Bihar elections.

The comment came just a day after Congress' Rahul Gandhi said that the prime minister's plan to take a dip in the Yamuna at Delhi was 'drama.' Modi said the relationship between the RJD and Congress was like water and oil, and they came together to "grab power at any cost, so that they can loot Bihar".

India's mega military exercise underway

About 6 months after India launched Operation Sindoor, the country is once again flexing its military muscle. The tri-service military exercise will last for 12 days and will largely be held close to Pakistan's borders near Gujarat and Rajasthan. Commandos, missile batteries, warships, battle tanks, and attack aircraft, including the Rafale and the Sukhoi Su-30 are all expected to be a part of it.

New twist in Kurnool bus fire case

Cops investigating the deadly bus fire in Andhra Pradesh's Kurnool now suspect that a third vehicle may have been involved. The incident claimed the lives of 19 passengers earlier this month after a bike appeared to come underneath the bus. The new clue is now under investigation.

Fruitful Trump-Xi meeting

President Donald Trump described his face-to-face meeting with Chinese leader Xi Jinping on Thursday as a roaring success, saying he would cut tariffs on China, while Beijing had agreed to allow the export of rare earth elements and start buying American soybeans.

Beijing's commerce ministry also confirmed it would suspend for one year certain export restrictions, including on rare earth materials, a sector where China is hugely dominant.

Hurricane destruction in Caribbean

Parts of Haiti, Jamaica and Cuba are in ruins after Hurricane Melissa tore through the Caribbean. At least 30 people are dead or missing after the destruction. While the storm now seems to be weakening, it is still expected to move on to the Bermuda region this week. Hurricane Melissa tied the 1935 record for the most intense storm ever to make landfall when it battered Jamaica on Tuesday.
