Monsoons continue to wreak havoc across North India. Several parts of Delhi’s National Capital Region (Delhi-NCR) were inundated after heavy overnight rainfall.

Water-logging led to traffic congestion stretching for several kilometers in Haryana’s Gurugram. Furthermore, flight operations were disrupted due to waterlogging and low visibility, prompting airlines to issue travel advisories.

Opposition leaders slammed the ruling BJP government, in power in Haryana for over a decade now, for the poor urban planning. But the Nayab Singh Saini government blamed the situation on the heaviest rainfall in 36 years. They assured citizens that all possible efforts were being made to provide help to flooded areas.

The IMD has issued a heavy rainfall alert for Delhi-NCR and a red alert is active for Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand for extremely heavy rainfall and flash floods. Punjab and Jammu and Kashmir too are on an orange watch for heavy rainfall today. Schools and colleges were shut with advisories issued to offices to issue work-from-home.
