Did you know Ranveer Singh’s ‘Dhurandhar’, which is all set to storm into the ₹500 crore box office club, isn’t the first Indian film to achieve this monumental feat?
Ranveer Singh and Akshaye Khanna's 'Dhurandhar' has received a massive response at the box-office, and fans are loving it. However, the first film to cross the 500 crore mark was way back in 2016!
In 2016 Aamir Khan’s ‘Dangal’, starring Sanya Malhotra, Fatima Sana Shaikh, and Zaira Wasim, left everyone impressed. The sports drama didn’t just break records—it shattered them, becoming the first Indian film to enter the ₹1000 crore club worldwide.
A year later, ‘Baahubali 2: The Conclusion’ released in 2017, redefined box office benchmarks, especially in Hindi speaking regions. The film comfortably crossed ₹500 crore net collections in Hindi in India alone. For a long time, ‘Baahubali 2’ stood tall as the ultimate box office champion.

It wasn’t until 2023 that Bollywood finally re-entered the ₹500 crore box office club. Shah Rukh Khan’s comeback blockbuster ‘Pathaan’ not only entered the ₹500 crore club but also surpassed the Hindi net collections of ‘Baahubali 2’ in India. The film also starred Deepika Padukone and John Abraham.
Sunny Deol’s ‘Gadar 2’ surprised many with its extraordinary box office run. Riding high on nostalgia appeal, the film connected strongly with audiences across small towns and metros, earning approximately ₹515 crore, according to Pinkvilla.

Another SRK film to achieve this feat is 'Jawan'. Packed with action, emotion, and social commentary, the film became a pan-India sensation and earned ₹558 crore, according to a report by Pinkvilla.
Ranbir Kapoor’s ‘Animal’ proved that unconventional and intense storytelling could also achieve massive commercial success. Despite polarising opinions, the film was a massive success and comfortably entered the ₹500 crore club.

Allu Arjun’s ‘Pushpa 2’ continued the legacy of its predecessor, delivering staggering box office figures and entering the ₹500 crore club.
Ranveer Singh, Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, Sara Arjun, and Arjun Rampal-starrer 'Dhurandhar', which entered the ₹400-crore club in just 12 days, is now all set to enter the ₹450-crore club. Based on this run, the film is expected to reach the ₹500 crore mark!
