Diljit Dosanjh, a global sensation with an enormous fan following, has become a force to be reckoned with in the music and entertainment world.
In 2023, he made history as the first Punjabi singer to perform at the popular Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, encouraging fans who didn’t understand the language to simply feel the ‘vibes’ of the music. And it worked like magic!
Hailing from Jalandhar’s Dosanjh Kalan village, Diljit proudly flaunted his Punjabi roots on the global stage, proving that no matter where life takes him, his heritage remains at the heart of everything he does. His journey began with albums like ‘Smile’ (2005) and ‘Chocolate’ (2008), gaining recognition early on. He made his acting debut in 2011 with ‘The Lion of Punjab’ and entered Bollywood in 2016 with ‘Udta Punjab’, starring alongside Shahid Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor, and Alia Bhatt. His role won him the Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut, and he later earned a second Filmfare nomination for ‘Good Newz’.
Diljit’s success knows no boundaries. In 2020, he made his mark on Billboard’s Social 50 chart with his album 'G.O.A.T.', and his 12th album 'Moonchild' also charted internationally.
He didn’t stop at Bollywood either; Diljit solidified his place as a Punjabi film icon with hits like ‘Jatt and Juliet 2’ and ‘Sajjan Singh Rangroot’. His 2021 film ‘Honsla Rakh’ set new records in Punjabi cinema, further proving his star power.
After his Coachella performance in 2023, Diljit surprised his fans by dropping the track ‘Hass Hass’, featuring Australian singer Sia.
What made it even more incredible was that Sia sang in Punjabi, impressing fans worldwide with her flawless rendition.
That same year, Diljit made history at his Vancouver concert during the 'Dil-Luminati' Tour, which became the largest concert by a Punjabi artist outside India, drawing 50,000 fans to BC Place. But the surprises didn’t end there—at an Ed Sheeran concert, Diljit made a surprise appearance, and the two artists performed Diljit’s hit ‘Lover’, creating a moment no one could have predicted.
In 2024, Diljit appeared on ‘The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon’, where he performed his hits ‘G.O.A.T’ and ‘Born To Shine.’ Fallon dubbed him "the biggest Punjabi artist on the planet," a well-deserved title as Diljit continues to soar.
Diljit’s 'Dil-Luminati' Tour in India kicked off in New Delhi at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in October 2024, where he performed for 40,000 fans. He later travelled to nine other cities, including Jaipur, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Lucknow, Pune, and Kolkata, bringing his electrifying performances to audiences nationwide. The tour wrapped up in Guwahati on December 29, leaving fans with unforgettable memories.
Ranked among The Times of India’s Most Desirable Men multiple times, Diljit has worked with major brands like Coca-Cola and Flipkart, and was the brand ambassador for Star Sports’ Pro Kabaddi League.
Beyond music and film, Diljit is also committed to giving back. In 2013, he founded the Saanjh Foundation, which focuses on helping underprivileged children and senior citizens, along with promoting youth empowerment, self-confidence, and anti-bullying initiatives.
