In a global-first move, the Government of Dubai has partnered with crypto.com to enable crypto payments for a wide range of public services. This makes Dubai the first city in the world to integrate a fully regulated, government-wide cryptocurrency payment system.
How Will It Work?
Once the integration is complete, individuals and businesses will be able to use crypto.com’s digital wallets to pay for various official services. These payments will be instantly converted into Emirati dirhams and deposited into Dubai’s Department of Finance accounts.
From business licenses and permits to visa renewals and document attestations—Dubai is opening up its service ecosystem to crypto.
Why Dubai Is Betting on Digital
This bold step aligns with Dubai’s broader Cashless Strategy. The city aims to become one of the most digitally advanced societies globally by 2026. The goal? Over 90% of all public and private sector transactions to be conducted digitally.
This initiative doesn’t just boost convenience—it reinforces Dubai’s ambition to become a global capital for fintech and blockchain innovation.
