With less than 2 days to go for the Bihar Assembly elections, an FIR has been filed against Union Minister of Panchayati Raj - Rajiv Ranjan Singh alias Lalan Singh - by order of the Election Commission.

Singh, long considered Number 2 in the Nitish Kumar-led JD (U), faces a police case for making provocative remarks during a poll campaign. The opposition’s RJD shared a video in which he is heard telling supporters to ensure “some leaders are not allowed to leave their homes on voting day”.

Passenger detained for trying to open emergency exit doors

In other news - a passenger on a Varanasi to Mumbai flight was detained for allegedly trying to open the aircraft’s emergency exit doors before takeoff.

A spokesperson for the Akasa Air flight QP 1497 added that all passengers and crew are safe and that the aircraft was thoroughly inspected and later cleared for departure.

17-year-old girl twice shot at in Haryana’s Faridabad

In a shocking incident - a 17-year-old girl was twice shot at in a housing colony in Haryana’s Faridabad.

The police said that a hunt is on for the youth, who allegedly fired the gunshots wounding the girl in her shoulder and abdomen before speeding away on a motorcycle. Reports suggest that the shooter had been stalking the girl after she spurned his advances.

12 people injured after gas cylinder explodes in Pakistani SC

Shifting focus, at least 12 people were reportedly injured after a gas cylinder exploded in the basement of the Pakistani Supreme Court.

The explosion is said to have occurred during repair work on the top court’s central air-conditioning system.

US govt shutdown results in thousands of delayed or cancelled flights

And finally in the US - thousands of flights have been delayed or cancelled after the ongoing US government shutdown stretched into its 34th day.

This after a huge spike in absences of air traffic controllers, TSA screeners, and other essential workers, amid a lack of pay, raising passenger concerns about safety and reliability.
