US President Donald Trump has introduced the Gold Card—a new visa program aimed at wealthy immigrants. The $5 million card grants residency in the United States and is expected to launch in less than two weeks.

Trump unveils the ‘Trump Card’
Aboard Air Force One, Trump proudly displayed the Gold Card, referring to it as the "Trump Card." Holding it up, he asked reporters, “You know what that is? It’s the Gold Card, the Trump Card.” He then added, “For $5 million, this could be yours.”The card features Trump’s face, his signature, and the words ‘The Trump Card.’ When asked who the first buyer was, Trump confidently declared, "I’m the first buyer."

Gold Card vs EB-5 visa
The Gold Card is a revamped version of the EB-5 visa program, which was introduced in 1990 to attract foreign investors. However, Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick has confirmed that the Gold Card will replace EB-5.Lutnick announced that 1,000 Gold Cards have already been sold, raising $5 billion in a single day. One major benefit for holders is that they will not have to pay U.S. taxes on their overseas income.
Trump’s tariffs shake the markets
While unveiling the Gold Card, Trump addressed the economic turmoil caused by his administration’s heavy tariffs. He compared the U.S. economy to a “sick patient” that needed an operation."We inherited a terrible economy with a lot of problems. Liberation Day was when the operation happened," Trump said.Despite the market uncertainty, Trump assured that with trillions of dollars expected to flow in, the U.S. economy would soon become a “booming country.”
