He ended his journey with the very team he started his career with. You guessed it, we're talking about Ravichandran Ashwin, who has drawn the curtains on a truly illustrious IPL career.

Whenever Ashwin's historic moments in the IPL are remembered, it won't just be about his 187 wickets. It’ll also be about those iconic moments that will echo through IPL seasons to come. Whether it was Mankading Jos Buttler, or going up against the unstoppable Chris Gayle in 2011. The Universe Boss was on fire that season, smashing 608 runs in 12 innings. But Ashwin deflated the monster. He first dismissed him for just 8 runs in Qualifier 1 and didn't let him even open his account in the final. Ashwin’s impact on the league is second to none.

He helped CSK win multiple titles. Back-to-back IPL titles in 2010 and 2011. And the Champions League T20 in 2010 and also in 2014.

Many fans might think of him as just a CSK legend, but history tells a more layered story. Ashwin won 6 Man of the Match awards in his IPL career, and 3 of those came while playing for the Rajasthan Royals. Interestingly, 2 of them were against CSK. So, Ashwin belongs as much to Rajasthan as he does to Chennai.

And why just these two teams? Ashwin leaves behind great memories for fans of Pune, Punjab, and Delhi as well.

ASHWIN's IPL JOURNEY

Chennai Super Kings (2009-2015)

Rising Pune Supergiant (2016-2017)

Punjab Kings (2018-2019)

Delhi Capitals (2020-2021)

Rajasthan Royals (2022-2024)

Chennai Super Kings (2025)

Ashwin ended his career as a 2-time IPL champion, a 7-time IPL finalist (3rd most) and the 5th-highest wicket-taker in the history of the cash-rich league. While we might still see him in other leagues, the IPL will miss this star every single season. Thank you for the memories, Ash.
