Just when we think we have seen it all, we get surprised by another dish that will leave you confused. In our weird or wow series, we bring to you different food combinations from around the world that is just plain bizarre or amazing, totally depending on your taste buds.
Today, on World Chocolate Day, let us introduce you to the latest concept in the market – Chicken Tikka Chocolate!
It all started with a video shared by Instagram user @imjustbesti, which has now sent shockwaves across foodie corners of the internet. The clip begins innocently enough, with a silicone chocolate mould, some food colouring, and a generous pour of melted white chocolate. So far, so good.
But things quickly take a bizarre turn when a spoonful of spicy chicken tikka is placed into the mould, followed by another layer of chocolate to seal the deal. After a few hours in the freezer, the fusion treat is complete. And what emerges is not your average sweet—you’re staring at a glossy white chocolate shell hiding a savoury, spicy centre.
Naturally, the internet had thoughts. Lots of them.
While some applauded the creativity and boldness of trying something so offbeat, most viewers were left bewildered, if not outright horrified. Comments ranged from “this should be illegal” to “why would you ruin both things at once?” For many, this feels like the final straw in a long line of oddball food experiments that have slowly crept their way into mainstream curiosity.
Let’s be honest—fusion food is nothing new. Over the past few years, we’ve collectively tasted (or at least tolerated) chocolate pizza, Nutella biryani, Maggi ice cream, and even chocolate momos.
With every scroll, something new and outrageous seems to pop up, daring us to click, watch, react, and maybe even try. This wave of food experimentation is driven by social media virality. The more unusual and outrageous the dish, the more attention it grabs. Chicken Tikka Chocolate is just the latest—and arguably most extreme—example of this trend.
Korean tacos, sushi burritos, and butter chicken pasta. So, maybe—just—this strange little creation is part of that same tradition… or maybe it's just a social media stunt gone too far.
This World Chocolate Day, we leave it up to you: is Chicken Tikka Chocolate an exciting new frontier or an insult to both sweet and savoury lovers everywhere? Would you take a bite, or are you already reaching for the palate cleanser?
