Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip 7 is turning out to be more than just a minor refresh. A new hands-on video has given us our best look yet at the upcoming foldable, and yep — it’s thinner, sharper, and that cover screen? Way bigger.
A bigger cover screen, with new tricks
A leaked hands-on video posted on X (formerly Twitter) by user @andrei_eclynoh shows the Flip 7’s outer display stretching across the entire top half — just like the rumours suggested. And instead of just being a pretty face, that new display brings some functional changes too. For starters, there’s a widget carousel that lets you scroll through four apps at once. The area next to the cameras? It’s used to show the date, time, and what looks like a white dot indicator for unread notifications.
There’s also talk of that area supporting “Now Bar” functions — like music playback and timers — although we’ll have to wait for either an official announcement or a more detailed leak to confirm that.
Foldable screen gets a subtle boost
Inside, Samsung is reportedly bumping the main display up to 6.9 inches — slightly larger than the 6.7-inch panel used in previous models. The bezels around the screen still look the same, but the added screen space could be nice for multitasking or video watching.
Animations on the cover screen looked smooth in the leaked video, so it’s safe to assume Samsung’s fine-tuning the UI for a better experience across both displays.
A thinner frame, finally?
One of the most anticipated upgrades is the Flip 7’s slimmer body. According to the leak, the new model is 0.8mm thinner when folded and 0.4mm thinner when unfolded compared to the Flip 6. It might not be easy to notice right away, but that slight reduction could make the phone feel less bulky in your pocket.
With the video since taken down, we’re left waiting for Samsung’s official reveal — but from what we’ve seen, the Flip 7 is shaping up to be the brand’s most polished clamshell yet.
