Actors Govinda and Chunky Panday’s recent appearance on Prime Video's chat show ‘Two Much’ with hosts Kajol and Twinkle Khanna has reignited an age-old debate: Is parenting still seen as a woman’s primary responsibility?

On the show, Panday and Govinda answered Kajol and Twinkle’s question about raising a child, and they claimed that if a man raises a kid, they usually turn out to be sakht, which Kajol and Twinkle agree to. However, the remark quickly sparked backlash on social media, with netizens flooding the Internet with debates and trolling the actors for their sexist comment.

What happened on ‘Two Much’?

When Kajol and Twinkle Khanna asked the duo if raising children was a woman’s job, Chunky instantly replied, “Haan hoti hain,” and Govinda nodded in agreement. What’s more surprising? Kajol and Twinkle eventually agreed with them.

Govinda said, “Purush unhe dekhega toh bohot sakth bana dega. Ya unse iss kadar precautinative bana dega kyun ki woh khud duniya dekh dekh ke aisa hogaya hain ki ek normal aur natural life aadmi maa ke sath hi jee sakta hai duniya mein." (The truth is, if men raise kids, they will make them 'too hard' for the world. Men will make kids more cautious because they themselves have led hard lives. A kid can lead a natural life only with their mother.)

By the end, Kajol and Twinkle agreed that indeed mothers are great.

Are only women responsible for raising kids?

But, is that really the case? Times have changed. Women are no longer confined to homes, and men aren’t just the providers anymore. Modern parenting isn’t about one parent nurturing and the other earning. It’s about partnership.

This mindset is part of what keeps women overburdened and men emotionally distant from their children. Studies show that kids benefit immensely when both parents are equally involved — they develop better emotional intelligence, confidence, and balance. On the flip side, men who engage in hands-on parenting report stronger emotional well-being and deeper family bonds.

In 2025, when couples share bills, goals, and ambitions, isn’t it time we share bedtime stories, report cards, and tantrums too? At the end of the day, raising children is not just a mother’s job!

So tell us, do you agree with Chunky and Govinda, or do you think it truly takes two to raise a child?
