Move aside commuter-core and corp-core, we have entered the world of regency-core. Empire waistlines, puffed sleeves and corsets are now ruling the fashion world. While Netflix show ‘Bridgerton’ brought it back, our Bollywood and Hollywood celebrities have taken it one step ahead.

The 'Bridgerton' effect

When Netflix’s Bridgerton first dropped, it wasn’t just the steamy scenes or Lady Whistledown’s secrets that had us gasping, it was also the fashion. Suddenly, corsets, pastel gowns, and opera gloves were back. And soon regency-core started dominating weddings to ramp walks, to celebrity closets.

How celebs put regency-core on the maps

Fashion-forward celebs were quick to pick up the trend, and honestly, who could resist? From Bella Hadid to Kendall Jenner, many international celebrities have owned the regency-core trend.

Closer to home, Khushi Kapoor has made the dainty neckline and puffed sleeve combo her personal brand. Even Tania Shroff gave the style a rebellious spin—corset up top, ripped jeans down below.

Even music videos have owned the regency-core trend

The influence is everywhere. Music videos are dipping into the aesthetic. Music videos like Pop Smoke - Demeanor feat. Dua Lipa took the regency-core with slow-mo shots of pearl-draped necks and velvet chokers. Designers at London Fashion Week are riffing on Regency silhouettes with bold modern palettes. Meanwhile, Indian wedding looks are getting Bridgerton-ed—with pastel lehengas, organza dupattas, and elbow gloves making surprise appearances in bridal trousseaus.

Regency-core is the much-needed break from Commuter-core

Let’s be honest. With trends like commuter-core dominating closets (think tech-wear, neutral tones, hyper-functionality), fashion's taken a utilitarian turn. But in walks Regency-core—swoony, romantic, and unbothered by your 9-to-5 life.

In a world obsessed with efficiency and minimalism, Regency-core is joyful rebellion. It's about dressing extra just because you can. It's nostalgia with frills.

And when it comes to nostalgia, who does it better than Gen Z and millennials. In a time where everything moves fast fashion, Regency-core slows things down, revels in detail, and dares you to dress like the main character.
