Let’s be real: nothing ruins that fresh phone vibe like random ads popping up all over your system apps. If you’ve just picked up a Xiaomi, Redmi, or Poco phone running HyperOS, you already know the pain—ads in your Downloads, Browser, Music, and even the Themes app.

It’s basically the one big thing holding HyperOS back from being an absolute joy to use. Imagine what life would be like if you could banish those interruptions for good—your phone would finally feel yours again, not like a billboard for random stuff.

Here’s the good news: you actually can get rid of most of these ads, and it only takes a few quick tweaks. We tried it out on the Redmi 15 running HyperOS 2.0, but these steps work just as well on most Xiaomi, Redmi, or Poco phones. We checked it out on the Poco F7, and it tracks. Here’s how to make your phone less spammy and way more zen.

Before you get started, it’s good to know there’s no single switch to nuke all ads at once. You’ll have to jump into each app’s settings and do the deed one by one. But honestly, it’s worth the couple of minutes—here’s how to make your phone less ad-heavy, section by section.

Remove from Downloads

Start with the Downloads app. Open it, tap the three vertical lines (menu icon), and head into Settings. Here, simply toggle off the “Show ads” option. That’s one less spot for spammy banners.

Remove from Mi Browser

Next, tackle the Mi Browser. Tap the icon in the bottom right, then go into settings via the gear icon. Under the advanced menu, you’ll see the “Show ads” option—switch it off and breathe easy when you browse.

Remove from Mi Video Player

In Mi Video Player, tap your profile icon, then hit the gear for settings. Here, turn off “Personalized recommendations.” Quick note: Xiaomi only disables this for 90 days, so you might need to repeat this step from time to time.

Remove from Music

For the Music app, tap the menu icon up top and jump into settings. Turn off “Allow permanent notifications.” Then, head to “More settings” or “Advanced settings” and flick off these three: “Show ads,” “Show online recommendations on startup,” and “Personalised recommendations.”

Remove from Security

Inside the Security app, tap the gear for settings and look for the “Receive Recommendations” or “Show Recommendations” under Suggestions—turn it off. While you’re at it, head into the Cleaner tool within Security, and disable “Show recommendations” there too.

Remove from Themes

Open the Themes app, tap the account icon (bottom right), and hit the gear to access settings. Here, just turn off both “Show ads” and “Personalised recommendations.” Your phone’s look stays clean.

Remove from App Vault

If App Vault is on your device, open it, hit the three-line menu, and choose “Manage services.” Here, turn off both “App suggestions” and “Ads.” That’s the last big hurdle.

Once you’ve made these tweaks, HyperOS finally feels like your phone, not an ad platform. Enjoy that ad-free vibe!
