Good news — they might soon be much easier on your wallet.
That’s because trade talks between India and the United States are gaining serious momentum. As per a CNBC-TV18 report, India has proposed scrapping import tariffs on most US goods, excluding just four key products: wheat, maize, rice, and dairy.

Interestingly, just last week, US President Donald Trump claimed that India had agreed to zero tariffs. He made this statement while doubling down on his long-standing criticism that India imposes some of the highest tariffs globally.

But it’s not a done deal yet. The US has also flagged around 70 non-tariff barriers that it wants India to address.

India’s Commerce Minister, Piyush Goyal, is expected to visit Washington soon to take the discussions forward.

Bilateral trade talks between the two countries have dragged on for years. However, the pace has picked up in recent months, especially after Trump announced his reciprocal tariff regime, which, for now, has been partially paused.
