Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has said India is set to become the third largest economy of the world within two years. The UP CM made the statement as he highlighted the speed at which the Indian economy has grown since 2014 under the leadership of PM Modi.Uttar Pradesh CM made the statement while inaugurating and laying the foundation stone of various development projects at Madan Mohan Malaviya University of Technology, Gorakhpur.
India, The World's Leading Economy
Uttar Pradesh CM also delved into India's past glory, saying how till the tenth century India accounted for more than fifty per cent of the global economy. He added, that in the past India was a leader in sectors like education and technology.
The British Loot
However, Yogi Adityanath said, that by the sixteenth century, India's share in the global economy had fallen to over thirty per cent, and it worsened further under the British rule as the British pillaged India of its resources. He said, During their reign, Britishers looted India's resources and treated it as a hub of raw materials."
Post-Independence Growth
Yogi Adityanath added that after independence India progressed, but at a slow pace. He said India became the 11th largest economy in the world over a period of almost seven decades. He contrasted this with India's growth in the last decade India under the leadership of PM Modi.
Growth In Modi Era
The UP CM highlighted that in the last decade, India rose from the eleventh position to fifth position in the global economy, clocking an unprecedented growth rate. He also said that soon we will be the third largest economy in the world, as India is the world’s fastest growing major economy. He further underlined that India was creating a new identity for itself in every sector.
