India’s winter travel demand has surged by almost 30% this year. Short breaks, easy visas and year-end holidays are pushing more people to book both international and domestic trips. Here’s a breakdown of the destinations that are leading the charts.

UAE remains the top winter choice

Dubai and Abu Dhabi continue to dominate. Short flight times, pleasant weather, New Year fireworks and theme parks make the UAE the easiest international pick for families. Demand stays high despite elevated December fares.

Thailand holds its position

Phuket, Krabi and Bangkok remain strong favourites. Affordable hotels, quick connections, beaches, nightlife and hassle-free visas keep Thailand packed through Christmas and New Year.

Vietnam and Bali rise on experience-led travel

Travellers especially millennials are choosing destinations that offer flexible, experience-driven itineraries. Vietnam’s lantern towns and cafés, and Bali’s waterfalls and scooter-friendly routes fit a range of budgets and travel styles.

Europe sees a premium winter boost

Switzerland, France and the UK are seeing increased bookings. Travellers are seeking winter markets, snow holidays, alpine cabins and the overall festive atmosphere. The premium segment is driving much of this demand.

Domestic destinations stay strong

Goa remains the go-to New Year celebration spot. Himachal and Uttarakhand attract travellers looking for snow. Rajasthan sees steady demand for palace stays, boutique havelis and desert camps.

What’s Next?

As more travellers prioritise convenience, experiences and festive travel, the winter season is set to remain one of the busiest periods of the year.
