Apple is reportedly making some big design changes with the iPhone 17 Air, and the biggest one? It’s set to be the thinnest iPhone ever. According to Bloomberg, Apple has been exploring radical changes to make the device slimmer, even considering removing the USB-C charging port altogether. While that idea has been scrapped for now, the push for a sleeker, ultra-thin design is still very much on.

Apple’s obsession with thinness is back

Apple has always had a thing for thin devices—just look at the MacBook Air or the iPad Pro. But in recent years, iPhones have been getting bulkier, thanks to bigger batteries and camera upgrades. Now, Apple seems to be reversing that trend, with the iPhone 17 Air focusing on a super-thin build without compromising too much on battery life or performance.

To achieve this, Apple is reportedly working on a redesigned internal layout, possibly using new materials and a more compact battery design. They’re also banking on wireless charging improvements to make wired connections less necessary.

But how thin is too thin?

While a slim iPhone sounds great, it comes with some challenges. A thinner frame could mean less space for battery capacity, potentially impacting battery life. It might also affect durability, especially if the device becomes more fragile. Apple has to strike the perfect balance between making the iPhone 17 Air super sleek while still keeping it practical for everyday use.

With the iPhone 17 series expected in September 2025, the iPhone 17 Air’s ultra-thin design will likely be a major talking point. Will it be Apple’s sleekest masterpiece or just another fragile beauty? We’ll find out soon.
