Virat Kohli is smashing back-to-back centuries. Ruturaj Gaikwad has finally brought up his maiden ODI hundred with brilliant strike rotation. But on the other side, Yashasvi Jaiswal is having a tough tour — especially against Marco Jansen. In just 4 Test innings and 2 ODI innings, Jansen has dismissed him 4 times… and 5 times across 8 innings overall.

The worrying pattern? Left-arm pace. Across 54 innings in all formats, Jaiswal has fallen 16 times to left-arm fast bowlers. His average against them was just 8.6 before this tour. Add to that his ODI struggle to rotate strike — his dot-ball percentage in the 2nd ODI was among the highest by an opener in recent times.

But calling him a “one-format player” is unfair. At 22, Jaiswal is still developing. Give him time — the talent is generational, and the next decade will belong to him.
