Delhi was rocked by a man reportedly shooting himself dead at the capital’s Jantar Mantar earlier today.

Police are yet to verify the identity of the man and the exact circumstances of his death. The police said that a case has been registered and further investigation is underway.

Karnataka cracks whip following viral videos from Central jail

Shifting focus to Bengaluru - the city’s Prison Chief Superintendent has been transferred. This after viral videos showed inmates at the Parappana Agrahara Central jail using mobile phones, dancing and enjoying VIP treatment.

Karnataka’s home minister Dr G Parameshwara added that 2 other officials have been suspended. An officer of the Indian Police Service (IPS) will now head the Bengaluru Central Jail.

5 Indian nationals reportedly abducted in Mali

In other news, 5 Indian nationals were abducted in Mali last week in an “unfortunate incident”.

In a post on X, the Indian Embassy in Mali announced that the kidnapping took place on November 6 in the West African nation. Adding that it has been working closely with the relevant authorities, and the company concerned, to secure their safe release as quickly as possible.

11 people confirmed dead after boat capsizes near Thailand-Malaysia border

Elsewhere in Malaysia - 11 people have been confirmed dead after a boat carrying members of Myanmar’s persecuted Rohingya community sank near the Thailand-Malaysia border. Authorities believe that the capsized vessel had about 70 people on board.

The status of another boat carrying 230 passengers remained unclear, with Malaysian authorities declaring that 13 survivors had been found so far, mostly Rohingya.

Trump says Americans will soon receive at least $2,000 in dividends

And in the US, President Donald Trump dubbed those opposing his tariff policy as ‘fools' after declaring that every American, except the wealthy, will soon receive at least $2,000 in dividends.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump claimed the aggressive levies not only made the US the “richest” but also the “most respected” country in the world. However, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent explained that the tariff dividends might not be direct payments but “could be just the tax decreases”.
