Maybachs are flying off the shelves in the Indian market—and it’s not the usual suspects behind the wheel. Sales of these ultra-luxury cars, which are priced at at least ₹3 crore each, have revealed a surprising new face of affluence in India.
Ten Maybachs Sold Per week
According to a report by The Times of India, Maybach more than doubled its sales in India in 2024. Out of a total of 21,800 units sold worldwide, the luxury car brand sold over 500 units last year, clocking 145% year-on-year growth. This translates to roughly 10 cars sold per week.What Makes Indian Market SpecialWhat makes the demand for Maybachs in India special is the age-mix of its customers here. The carmaker has its youngest set of customers globally in India, with millennials driving the demand of Maybach in India. According to company’s global head Daniel Lescow, the average age of Maybach’s Indian customer is 38 years.
Key Market For Maybach
With its sales in India rising at a fast pace, Maybach now expects India to soon become one of its key markets globally. Speaking to Times of India, Lescow said, "Maybach has a history of over 100 years in India, and it is simply amazing to see how the brand has developed and evolved. Just last year, we saw a growth of 145% in our India sales as numbers crossed 500 cars, making it one of the fastest-growing countries for us globally."
Maybach’s SL680 Plan
Maybach now plans to start retailing its latest offering- the new SL680 -in India from January 2026. The brand has released a quota of only three units of the new model for India, which have already been sold. Speaking to Times of India, Lescow added, "There's a deep interest in the brand, and Indian customers are very knowledgeable about the products. I was impressed by the maturity around luxury here."
