Think a T20 match going to a double Super Over is wild? Well, buckle up—because this one went to three! Nope, this wasn’t some obscure domestic league madness. This happened in a proper international game—Netherlands vs Nepal, 2nd T20I, and what a roller coaster it was!
In fact, this was the first time ever in men's professional cricket - T20 or List A - that a match was decided after THREE Super Overs. That’s not cricket, that’s chaos!
In the end, Nepal lost both wickets for zero runs in the 3rd Super Over, and the Dutch finally walked away with the win. But oh boy, what a journey it was.
So, what actually happened in the match?
  • Netherlands batted first and put up a modest 152/7. Teja Nidamanuru top-scored with 35, while Nepal’s spin wizard Sandeep Lamichhane picked up 2 wickets.
  • Nepal’s chase looked shaky at 137/8 after 19 overs. But out of nowhere, Nandan Yadav smashed 12 off just 4 balls in the final over to tie the game. Drama had officially entered the chat.
1st Super Over
Enter Kushal Bhurtel, swinging like there’s no tomorrow—two sixes and a four took Nepal to 19 in the first Super Over. Surely enough, right?
Wrong. Netherlands somehow matched it with 19 of their own. Game on.
2nd Super Over
Netherlands went again and posted 18. Nepal chased bravely and... heartbreak—finished on 17.
Tied again.
At this point, the cricket gods were just having fun.
3rd Super Over
And then came the twist:
Nepal collapsed—zero runs, two wickets down.
Michael Levitt walked in and launched the first ball for six, ending the madness with a bang and sealing a win for the Netherlands in one of the most bizarre matches cricket has ever seen.
Seriously, if this game was a movie, the script would’ve been rejected for being too unrealistic.
