In a world where main characters often chase popularity, Netflix show's protagonist Wednesday Addams walks in like a thundercloud. And yet, she’s become a global phenomenon. With ‘Wednesday ‘returning for Season 2, it’s the perfect moment to ask: why does this deadpan goth girl continue to command so much love?

She is not your average protagonist

Wednesday Addams is the anti-hero we didn’t know we needed. She doesn’t sparkle with charm or beg for sympathy. She is dark, intelligent, brave and unapologetically authentic. In a sea of curated personalities, Wednesday is like a breath of fresh air.

She doesn’t chase validation. She doesn’t fit in. And that’s precisely why millions of people love and admire the character.

Wednesday has also destroyed the mould we make women fit into. They had to be likeable. Relatable. “Nice.” Wednesday disrupts that mold. She is emotionally guarded, morally strong and fiercely independent.

Whether she’s outsmarting monsters, dodging awkward friendships, or dancing like no one’s watching at her prom night, Wednesday reclaims what it means to be different. Her story tells us: you don’t have to change to be accepted.

Why there is power of being misunderstood

There’s something universally relatable about feeling misunderstood. And that’s where Wednesday connects on a deeper emotional plane. She does not bend rules and that’s the most unique thing about her.

Even her co-stars are big fans

Jenna’s co-stars are also fans of her skills. Fred Armisen, who plays Wednesday’s Uncle Fester in the show, shared that he learnt an important lesson from the 22-year-old actress. While speaking with People at the Wednesday season 2, Part One World Premiere in London, he said, "It’s great watching Jenna, because she keeps track of the script in this way that she understands the logic of her character. It's not like she just shows up and it’s like, ‘I’m just gonna do this character.’ She’s like, ‘Why does this moment count? So, she’s very meticulous, and it makes me want to be more like her. I’m like, ‘No, I gotta […] pay attention,’

When will 'Wednesday S2' be released?

The new season of the Netflix show promises to be even darker and more complex than the first one. Part 1 of Wednesday season 2 will premiere on August 6 on Netflix, followed by Part 2 on September 3. Besides Jenna, season 2 will also feature Emma Myers, Joy Sunday, Luis Guzman, Hunter Doohan, Isaac Ordonez, Catherine Zeta-Jones, and Luyanda Unati Lewis-Nyawo. So, tell us who’s your favorite misunderstood character? The one who challenged norms, walked their own path, and made you see yourself in a new light?
