Rishabh Pant is on the brink of rewriting history yet again, this time, in Test cricket. The 27-year-old wicketkeeper-batter is just two sixes away from surpassing Virender Sehwag’s long-standing record for the most Test sixes by an Indian cricketer.

Pant’s Explosive Numbers Speak for Themselves

Pant currently has 90 sixes in Test cricket, while Sehwag sits at 91; a record that has stood for more than a decade. But what makes Pant’s feat extraordinary is the pace at which he’s reached there.

Sehwag hit his 91 sixes over 180 innings. Pant? He’s done 90 in just 82. That’s less than half the innings, a staggering reflection of Pant’s power-hitting and fearless batting style in the longest format.

The Six-Hitter Among Test Elites

Globally, the only active cricketer ahead of Pant on the all-time Test sixes list is England’s Ben Stokes, who is also top of the all-time list. He has 136 sixes from 206 innings.

If Pant maintains his current strike rate and longevity, projections suggest he could overtake Stokes within the next three to four years, making him the most prolific six-hitter in Test cricket history. For a player known for his audacious strokeplay and match-turning knocks, that trajectory feels perfectly natural.

The Future Is Bright and Full of Sixes

From fearless ramp shots to those towering pulls over midwicket, Pant’s batting has redefined how a wicketkeeper can dominate Test cricket. And once he clears that boundary twice more, he’ll not just surpass Sehwag, he’ll cement his name among the game’s most entertaining legends.

Because when Rishabh Pant bats, it’s never about survival, it’s about spectacle.
